Lakeside
Studio has been a publisher of original contemporary prints for over 25
years. In 1987 they inaugurated an international artist in residence
program with an emphasis on ceramics. Lakeside Gallery continues to
exhibit a wide collection of this work, along with a variety of current
exhibitions.

in downtown Sawyer presents unique and frequently changing exhibits,
programs, classes and workshops that are open to all ages year round.
In addition to the permanent display of uncommon historical Sawyer
information, the Center also carries art materials and gifts. Gallery
is closed on Monday.

The
Priscilla U. Byrns Heritage Center provides a beautiful setting for a
variety of functions, including weddings, seminars, and concerts. Fort
Miami Heritage Society owns and is located within the Center, which
provides an ideal setting for interpreting the history of the St.
Joseph-Benton Harbor area. The museum will be mounting a major two year
international exhibit in the fall, titled "Shared Waters: Native and
French Newcomers on the Great Lakes." During the summer there will be
two concurrent exhibits on loan from Michigan State University Museum;
"Images of Human Rights: South African Prints," and "Sisters of the
Great Lakes: Art of American Indian Women." In addition to exhibits,
the Society also presents various programs and lectures, as well as
preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Fort Miami region and the
twin cities area through their library, archival and artifact
collections.

Krasal Art Center provides insight and aesthetic appreciation of the
visual fine arts. It is a learning resource for people of all ages. The
Gallery Shop features high quality gift items, some made by local and
regional artist. Decorative items as well as greeting cards and gift

the rich maritime heritage of the Great Lakes by visiting Michigan's
most distinguished institution of maritime research, preservation and
education. Step aboard an early 19th century replica tall ship and sail
out into the great waters of Lake Michigan. Open all year, the Michigan
Maritime Museum campus features several exhibits and self-guided tours
along with the a Great Lakes historic replica tall ship, Friends Good
Will, available for boarding and passenger sails and also check out the
Great Lakes Research Library and the South Haven. South Pier Light.

South Haven Center for the Arts, offers art shows, classes and

New Buffalo Railroad Museum

A museum
depicting the history of the railroad industry as well as the City of
New Buffalo and the surrounding areas. There are photographs, documents
and a working miniature model railroad project. A Chessie Boxcar and
WWII Pullman Troopcar are open to tour.

in the historic E.K. Warren building. A glimpse of Three Oaks history
can be found throughout. Three rooms upstairs feature replicas of a

Pears Flour & Grist Mill

Built
in 1857 and today houses a working water powered grist mill. Visit
Pears Mill on a Saturday afternoon between Memorial Day and Labor Day
and see grain ground just as it was in the 1800's. The mill also has a
display of antique farm equipment.

Michigan's
oldest courthouse, built in 1839. Also included in Courthouse square is
the Sheriff's residence, the old County Office building, a two-story
log house and a blacksmith shop. The museum features changing exhibits,
special events and unique gift shop.

Horn Museum houses over 9,000 artifacts such as pottery, coins,
jewelry, tables and other pieces from the Bible lands span over 5,000
years of history. By preserving and displaying ancient artifacts, the
Museum provides an eyepiece through which to glimpse the past, bringing
today into sharper focus and defining the outline of tomorrow.

Log Cabin Society of Michigan was organized for the preservation of our
log cabin history. Over the years many log cabins have been added to
our list that are open for tours in June of each year. Experience the
history of the different log cabins in our state that date back to the

Chapin Mansion (Niles City Hall)

This
Queen Anne mansion was built from 1882-84 by Henry A. Chapin, a native
of Massachusetts. The 13 room interior has hand-carved woodwork,
stained glass transoms, stenciled ceilings, and a ball room on the top
floor. In 1932, the family sold the home to the city of Niles. The
carriage house at the rear houses the Fort St. Joseph Museum. The
building may be visited during normal business hours, and large group
tours can be arranged in advance. Tours are free.

Fort
St. Joseph Museum has a wide variety of collections ranging from
pictographs drawn by Lakota Chief Sitting Bull to artifacts recovered
from Fort St. Joseph to Victorian decorative arts. Museums exhibits
tell the story of early Niles and the contributions its businesses
& citizens have made to the world. The carriage house and boiler
house of the Henry A. Chapin home were joined together and remodeled to
form the present museum. Open Wednesday through Saturday.
